![]() ![]() The first third of this book was the best, then it got incredibly boring and annoying just hearing the mc whine about his life and constantly complaining, but it started to pick back up in the last third when he was getting a taste of his own medicine. It intrigues me and being inside his head and taking a look around was just something else. I just really enjoy reading about psychotic and disgusting people. ![]() Okay, what can I say about this book? Well, for starters, it's 4 stars but not a good 4 stars. The blade slips in barely noticed, the pain and the apology delivered at the same time.” An expert heartbreaker knows the effect of each incision. Hurt people hurt people more skillfully. On the other hand what 17 year old doesn’t think they know everything? Still hate the book though. I probably would’ve been more succinct now and not so pretentious. **2021 Edit: I still get notifications about this review so I felt it appropriate to edit. The summary describes the author as an "alcoholic Holden Caulfield" and I would say that they're right because Holden Caulfield is a spoiled brat and so is the author of this book. This book paints a picture of the most screwed up idea of love and shouldn't be idolized by anyone. This book is on tumblr/twitter for the infamous first page, but the rest of the book is boring and oddly paced until the very end. The author of this book is whiny and annoying from the beginning and this book does nothing but romanticize the idea of hurt people hurting people. It is incredibly explicit, and unless you want your 13 to be reading about at 30 year old's sexual exploits and drunken escapades, I say steer them away from this one. This book is NOT, I repeat, not for children. Please for the love of all that is good, monitor your children. I work at a bookstore and was informed that the main age group buying this book is 13-15. How dare you compare this garbage to one of the greatest authors of all time? Pitiful. Scott Fitzgerald but for the iPad generation, SHAME ON YOU. A couple things First off, to the author on the back of the book who compared this to F. Although this book deals with some difficult scenes I would recommend this book like it was recommended to me.I have everything and nothing to say about this book. I do not believe it is worthy of a 4-star rating (in my opinion) due to the writing, sometimes I would find myself confused. ![]() The popular karma quote is frequently used I believe that the memoir is an example of this as he had been a victim of his own actions. Also, that “what goes around comes around”. (Such as a small glimpse of his child abuse). I believe in some ways this book was also thought provoking, in a sense of, don’t judge people by how they are as you don’t know how they have managed to be shaped like that as a human. ![]() Although the content had a lot of adult and triggering content I honestly enjoyed my time reading this as it was surprising to see his personality and how he was fully aware of what he was doing but couldn’t help but have enthusiasm about his wrong-doings. This new perspective was very intriguing to me. Usually, books with this type of content focus on the point of view of the victim and her/his experiences. There is a very high adult theme including sexual assault, rape, alcoholism, child abuse, drug use and more.Īn interesting feature of this book was the perspective of the ‘abuser’ which adds a different aspect to the story. Diary of an Oxygen Thief is a fictional memoir, therefore the events that happened in this book are farther than the truth than it feels.Īlthough the book only consists of 151 pages, I was engrossed every second of every minute, unable to put the book down and bringing it along with me on my busy day to read even just a snippet of what goes on in this sociopath’s mind.īefore going into this book, I wish I had been more aware of the triggers, there is a lot of controversial content that if I hadn’t slightly gotten over various parts of my past, I would be completely triggered, so just as a disclaimer, there is a high trigger warning on this book for almost everything. ![]()
